William Morris (1834-1896), an internationally acclaimed artist and a key founder of the Arts and Crafts Movement, designed successful tapestries, wallpaper, fabrics, furniture, and stained glass windows. Leaving a lasting impact on British design, William Morris’ art creations started as a collaboration in 1861 and eventually transpired into his self-led business, Morris & Co, in 1864. Using intricate symmetry and patterns throughout his artwork, his style maintains a sense of order while exploring the beauty of flowers and other botanicals. Outside of Britain, his design influence spanned the United States, Europe, Scandinavia, and the Mingei movement in Japan.
