Although some have been quick to categorize her work as impressionistic or post-modern, Shalimar has never considered herself confined to a single style. She simply paints what inspires her, and the beauty of the world offers limitless inspiration. As a nurse (and a hopeless animal lover), she sees love, bravery, kindness, and the beauty of the human spirit every day. But having been the youngest member of a large family, Shalimar has always felt a special affinity for what is underappreciated and overlooked. This is one of the reasons she has always been drawn to painting: “it gives a voice to the voiceless, and shows that beauty can be found everywhere, even in the most surprising places.”
