Jaanika Talts - Canvas Prints

Jaanika Talts was born and raised in Estonia, on the shores of the Baltic Sea. She has lived in Sweden  and moved to Ireland over a decade ago, making Dublin her home. Jaanika paints in a modern abstract style, with both impressionist and abstract expressionist  influences. Her art work starts with an emotion, not a concrete thought, which then becomes  the raw source material of the painting. She favors a spontaneous creative process.  In her more impressionist works, Jaanika finds her main inspiration in the land and seascape  around Dublin Bay, and its ever changing light. Her treatment of the subject is referential,  never figurative, creating surreal landscapes that leave much room for the viewer’s own  universe of emotion. In her pure abstract works, Jaanika’s favorite subject is color itself,  which she unspools and clusters in bursts on the canvas, playing with intensities of shade,  depth, and form in its application, creating a multi dimensional effect to her work.
