Series Spotlight: Classic Beer Art by Scott Clendaniel
Artists often develop a signature style in which to focus a full series around. In the case of Scott Clendaniel’s beer art collection, he reimagines classic works featuring unexpected pints of golden ale. And with Beer Lovers Day on September 7, it felt like the perfect time to celebrate his boozy remixed prints.
Based in Anchorage, Alaska, Scott Clendaniel uses oil paints to create quirky takes on recognizable museum classics. From Rothko-inspired abstracts capturing the layered hues of a glass of beer to a Matisse-inspired dance around a pint, his creations offer a classical, light-hearted way to celebrate a timeless beverage.
With a penchant for painting beer, he often travels to breweries to create his works in real time. In 2014, he set out to create a beer painting a day resulting in 365 more works featuring his favorite beverage. Not only does Scott create a wide variety of beer art and great gifts for beer lovers, he also brews his own beer at home. And to that we say, cheers to life imitating art!
