While we acknowledge and support LGBTQ+ rights no matter what time of year, we wanted to celebrate Pride Month by spotlighting a different LGBTQ+ artist each Thursday during June. While he was born and raised in Nebraska, his true artistic vision came from a more tropical place. It was when he moved to Hawaii he started taking photographs of his friends and lovers, using them as models for his nude drawings and paintings. Eventually, he headed off to Brazil, where he found his ultimate muse, and the main subject of many of his pieces: Brazilian men. He was fascinated by the culture, so it’s no surprise it’s influenced his artwork. From there, he traveled and moved multiple times, finding different inspirations throughout his various living situations.
He had a difficult time finding galleries who would show nude art in the 1980s, so his rise to global success mainly came from articles and interviews in gay publications. His talent for portraying men in their natural forms continued to rise throughout the years and has become his biggest passion. You’ll see his many different styles of this main subject shine through in the curation below.
From lovers in the garden to nude ocean encounters, each print offers a refined display of the male form, along with some intimate scenes of LGBTQ+ relationships.
