4 Artists Living in Florida

These four artists living in Florida create art in four different ways. Given their unique life experiences and artistic journeys, we’d expect nothing less! From serene and scenic to intricate and stylish, we’re looking at four artists and the way they’re influenced, or not, by residing in the Sunshine State.

With thousands of miles of beaches, bustling Miami nightlife, and world famous tourist attractions, Florida is the second most visited place in the United States. It makes sense that artists living in these tropical temperatures would be inspired by their sunny and exciting environment. While we often see Florida artwork highlighting the charm and nostalgia of Disney or the natural beauty of the ocean, artists can find inspiration in a variety of places. Sometimes, where you’re from drives what you create, but that’s not always the case.

From Afro dancers to Starry Night depictions, the work from these artists can bring brightly symmetrical, expressively bold, and more types of vibes to your space. Whether you prefer vibrant paintings or travel photography, keep scrolling to find a new favorite artist.

1. Susanne Kremer

With her artistic passion stemming from her great-grandfather, Miami-based artist Susanne Kremer creates travel photography featuring cities, nature, and scenery across the globe. Capturing beaches in specific areas like Key West, Fort Lauderdale, and Hillsboro, her coastal photos highlight the warm weather views we typically think of when it comes to Florida. Showcasing a mix of soft sunrises over the ocean, brightly colored lifeguard houses, and tropical palm trees, her prints encompass the joyful yet serene feelings of this state’s blissful beach life.

From South Florida waves splashing to the shore in front of a warm horizon to a multi-colored Miami beach sign, we think her artwork can be a wonderful way to get lost in quiet and summery settings.

Inspired by Vincent Van Gogh, Sir Peter Paul Rubens, and Salvador Dalí, Fort Myers-based artist Amanda Zirzow’s paintings feature wildlife, underwater creatures, nature-infused scenes, and Starry Night depictions. With no specific Florida-centric subjects, we can still see the subtle influence through her creations of sea turtles, dreamy dolphins, and other tropical water creatures that are typically found in the state. With the rest of her collection focusing on a mix of animals ranging from farm critters like chickens to wild beasts like tigers, she shows off her subjects with exciting details.
