4 Artists Showcasing Underwater Art

These four artists offer underwater art in four different ways. Given their unique life experiences and artistic journeys, we’d expect nothing less! From aquatic and intimate to fantastical and imaginative, we’re taking a look at how four different creators showcase scenes below the surface.

With such beautiful ripples and magical life hidden below, underwater imagery can be fascinating to look at. Thanks to the exciting unknown of the ocean and the joy of jumping in swimming pools, it’s no wonder that artists are incorporating underwater views in their creations. While we often see art featuring sea creatures of the deep or scuba divers exploring, artists are finding other ways to show off underwater scenes in their work.

From whale adventures to relaxed mermaids, the work from these artists can bring storybook endearment, alluring entrancement, and more types of vibes to your space. Whether you prefer photorealism paintings or ocean photography, keep scrolling to find a new favorite artist.

1. Josep Moncada | Photorealism Artist

Inspired by his upbringing on the island of Menorca, Spain-based artist Josep Moncada’s paintings feature vivid underwater scenes. Focusing on people’s bodies beneath the surface, he depicts the intricate ripples and the way the subjects’ clothing floats through the water. With incredible attention to the details of shadow and light, we’re pulled into realistic scenes with a splash.

From a lady in red fabric to feet and daisies touching the bottom of the water, we think his artwork can be a wonderful way to add aquatic or intimate vibes to your space.

Showcasing sea creatures underneath the water, he reveals the beauty of animals that exist in places we don’t see regularly. Whether it’s reptiles or magnificent finned critters, he helps us take a deep dive into beautiful blue.
