4 Artists Living in Texas

These four artists living in Texas create art in four different ways. Given their unique life experiences and artistic journeys, we’d expect nothing less! From minimalist and bohemian to edgy and expressive, we’re looking at four artists and the way they’re influenced, or not, by residing in the Lone Star State.

With such exciting rodeo culture, mouthwatering BBQ cuisine, and the prominent NASA space center, Texas is the second largest state in the USA. It makes sense that artists calling this southwest state home would be inspired by their wild and historic environment. While we often see Texas artwork highlighting rugged cowboys, desert landscapes, and rural ranch life, artists can find inspiration in a variety of places. Sometimes, where you’re from drives what you create, but that’s not always the case.

From seafood spreads to musical animals, the work from these artists can bring coastal comfort, wild warmth, and more types of vibes to your space. Whether you prefer mixed media abstracts or serene paintings, keep scrolling to find a new favorite artist.

1. Allie Falcon

Inspired by the cowboy world she’s surrounded by in Texas, Allie Falcon’s digital creations feature people and patterns. Incorporating typical Texas imagery such as cowboy hats, fringe jackets, horses, and southwestern style designs, we can clearly see her state’s influence across her collection of minimalist prints. By also bringing in a lot of earth toned palettes and some botanicals, she adds a bohemian flair to many of her scenes, making for a less traditional take on the western world.

From a skeleton cowboy smoking to a cowgirl looking out at a pony in the desert, we think her artwork can be a great way to add southern, boho chic vibes to your space.

2. Cheri Christensen

Inspired by the simple everyday interaction of the animals in her environment, Texas artist Cheri Christensen creates oil paintings of farm animals in nature. While we see goats, chickens, and other types of farm critters in many different places, her direct influence of the daily life around her helps us see the Texas impact throughout her soft creations. By incorporating gentle lighting and the greenery surrounding these beautiful creatures, she pulls us into the serenity of Texan nature.

From a cow in the blooming springtime to a pair of ducks waddling in, we think her artwork can be a nice way to bring the warm yet wild feelings of this southern state to your space. If her livestock art looks familiar, you may have seen her work featured in several national and international galleries and in publications including American Art Collector.

With the rest of his collection revealing colorful movement, animals playing instruments, and other eclectic scenes, he leaves us with a sense of vivid fascination.
